WebAR Marketing Case Study: Jackson Hogg Recruitment

Insights
May 14, 2020

In this Web AR marketing case study, we take a look at the world’s first AR printed campaign at a recruiting event. Jackson Hogg Recruitment contracted Aircards to attract the best candidates for their clients. Jackson Hogg is a UK-based leading recruitment partner in the engineering, manufacturing, and technology sectors. They find the best talent for their clients, helping organisations form the best teams possible to drive their success.

WebAR Marketing Objective

Jackson Hogg specialises in providing high quality, innovative recruitment solutions, and they wanted that reflected in their marketing material at a large industry event. At industry events, it is easy for printed material to get lost in the other stacks of handouts. Jackson Hogg needed to stand out, and elevating a printed brochure with augmented reality seemed like the perfect solution.

AR Marketing Solution

Aircards designed an augmented reality brochure customised to match the Jackson Hogg brand. The front and inside of the brochure introduced Jackson Hogg and their services with eye-catching print and images. On the back page, the brochure came to life.

With a clear call-to-action, the public was prompted to point their phone at the custom QR code. With one click on their screen, their device was then turned into an augmented reality portal—no app necessary! The top of the printed brochure transformed into a personalised video introduction. The exciting video and upbeat music showed them what Jackson Hogg is all about. At the end of the video, a Senior HR Consultant’s image and contact information came on the screen, leaving a lasting impression that wouldn’t get lost in the crowd of faces at the industry event.

Furthermore, a classy call-to-action button appeared on the user’s phone screen that drove users to send an email to the Jackson Hogg business consultant. When pushed, the button would open the user’s default email app and pre-fill the email subject line. It couldn’t be any easier for the user to reach out to Jackson Hogg.

WebAR Marketing Case Study Results

Jackson Hogg was extremely pleased with the results. The app-less augmented reality technology transformed the traditional printed material into fun and dynamic content and skyrocketed the number of responses normally expected at such an event. One of the biggest advantages of AR print marketing is the ability to track its success accurately. For Jackson Hogg, their success included:

  • Increased engagement from static printed marketing material
  • 42% AR engagement rate
  • 34% click-through rate
  • 35 second average dwell time

The engagement rate and click-through rate are off the charts compared to the standard 3-7% rates for standard print marketing. But, the dwell time of 35 seconds really proves how impressed users were with the AR video. Why? Because the AR video was only 30 seconds long! That means most users watched the video in its entirety, and many users watched it again or continued to play with it after the video completed. Talk about user engagement!
